I don't think you should have commented on a status update--it just too public and it makes someone act more defensively than they otherwise would if you were having a one to one conversation with them. What you should have done is contacted her privately asking her about where the dog was coming from/how old etc just shown interest in the dog in general and then let her know gently. With people like this you need to be tactful, otherwise it just seems like you're attacking them or appearing to be holier than thou. It's all in the approach. You need to be sneaky in how you educate people not just throw it in their face. |
