That is right, the bile acid test only lets us know there is a problem that is connected to the liver. When the numbers are extremely high, the usual assumption is Liver shunt, but to really know futher testing must be done. When my Misty's numbers were so extreme, I was sent down to Purdue University where additional testing was done and it was confirmed to be a liver shunt. My girl had the surgery where a constrictor is put in, and it has been successful. She is doing great, and is as healthy as can be now.
