I wouldn't sweat the piece of paper either (marriage lic). The paper doesn't necessarily mean things are going to work out. I would shoot for the "working out".
PS - Although more rings NEVER hurt the cause! Why stop at diamonds? Pearls are nice, onyx, rose quartz.....
