This is exactly the time you shouldn't turn in your letter of resignation! The main job of a defense attorney is to make sure the client gets a fair trial guilty or not. That way the client doens't go free because of a poor defense. If the attorney doesn't explore every avenue he/she opens the door for mistrieal, apeals and all kinds of nonsense. Her attorney could very well believe she is guilty but can still defend her to make sure she goes away for a very long time. Don't think he doesn't know the swimming pool accident is a lie. I'm betting the first thing out of his mouth when he talked to her was "Did you do it?"
