I also use a spray, but for Tink it has to be on the gentle side, she'll get frantic if it's too forceful. She prefers a little bit cooler water temp too. As she has begun to trust me more, I can work a bit quicker with her, and I was able to use a stronger spray to help get the dirt and soap out of her coat quicker, but I increased the force of it gradually, with each bath.

I wipe her eyes before the bath with sterile saline solution, it helps remove any eyegunk stuck to the hair around her eyes. Sometimes if it's alot of gunk, I apply the saline heavily and allow it to set a while to soften up, then it comes off easily. Tink will try to bite if I pull any hairs, lol. I use a mild spray to rinse her face, and she's bad with her ears so I'm very careful not to get any water in them, as it can be painful for any dog.

Some days she won't tolerate her head being sprayed, so I use a washcloth on those days.
