hmmm...I don't really know if it grows slower but both my girls hair seems to get to a certain length and stop - and on the ears ...usually yorkies ears ARE shaved down on the top 3rd....did you specifically ask them NOT to cut it at all ? If you did... then they just didn't listen. I sure had my share of grooming experiences like too - which is why I do my girls myself now.
The hair will grow.... that's the good thing.
