Implants sometimes needs to be replaced if they start to give problems. Your body can reject it as a foreign object. I have a plate and 8 screws in my arm from a bad fall a few years ago and I hope that I never need it removed. If the bone stable? Maybe it just needs to be removed and not replaced?
