Toads are poisonous with the secretions they give off in many parts of the US. Even when they aren't technically poisonous they still give off a self-defense secretion that can make a little dog very ill (as we personally know all too well).
Many, many, many decorative plants and trees are highly deadly - the sago palm is just one. If your pup just walks in the leaves they can die from toxicity (especially small dogs).
Unfortunately, most of these things are easily accessible to an inquisitive pup. Just one more reason they should not be outside unattended (or in a garage, etc.)
