As a spectator you shouldn't have to pay a ticket fee to get in unless it's a Specialty show and then they sell tickets at the door I think. Most of the shows will be AKC events and I've never been charged for a ticket at those. I've had to pay for parking before but not for a ticket.
You will want to buy a program, usually there will be a sales booth centrally located at the event. The program will list ring assignments, show times, exhibitor and dog names, etc. The cost is generally about $10, at least around here, IDK about other areas.
I wouldn't bring my pet yorkie to a dog show even if it is allowed. I want to pay attention to the show dogs, shop the vendors and visit. Bringing my yorkie would be too distracting, I would be constantly worried about them being comfortable, etc.
