Yes, but the plan about how to proceed was different. If the first antibiotic worked somewhat, but not all the way, then at the very least another U/A would be done to see if there was still an infection present. If not, then we'd be looking at stones and such. If no U/A could be done (happened in our case because Ellie didn't have enough urine in her bladder), then straight to xray. Occasionally Yorkies get a type of stone that doesn't show up on xray though. culture is really not a bad idea.
You'll have to do what the vet thinks is best. I'd be concerned that the antibiotic helped somewhat though. I'd assume that means that 1) there is more than one type of bacterium and it wasn't the right one to clear all of it or 2) there was an infection, but there is an underlying cause that needs to be taken care of.
Hoping the next round of ABs work for her. Dark and smelling doesn't sound right.
