Your routine sounds much like mine except I let the cats help me. I take her in a room and let the cats follow. It smells good to them. I'll let the cats have some of the food while Gracie sits far away. She sees them eating and gets a little agitated. Then I give her some by hand and she will have a little as long as the cat is trying to get the food, too. It's just nuts. I think she prefers no dishes at all.
