I've been to a dog park with a larger dog before. Not the best experience. The place is a breeding ground for mosquitos and lepto.
If I ever did decide to take a dog to one, I'd make very sure that:
Heartworm preventative stayed UTD
No visits until two weeks after last puppy shots including rabies
Lepto vaccine in areas where it is an issue if the vet feels it is safe
Flea (and probably tick) preventative
Fecals done often
I'd prefer going to a park where dogs don't frequent or using a dog daycare for socialization (because there is a much closer watch on if dogs are UTD on everything). If I did go to a dog park, I'd be making very sure that my pup was protected from disease and vet checked for parasites often.
