One of my Morkies has reverse sneezing episodes about once a day, usually due to excitement, and my other 3 dogs have it rarely. But, all 3 Morkies have had RS at the same time, due to drywall dust.

I imagine allergens (dust, pollen etc.) could contribute, but might be hard to treat. Since RS isn't life threatening and is usually resolved in minutes, I personally would be reluctant to treat with meds, unless it is literally happening all the time.

It is sad to see them honking away though, and with Karlee I sometimes lift her head up and gently stroke her neck to help her relax and stop. When other people see her in RS, they think she is choking and want to do a rescue maneuver.
