If your vet says no, I'd find a new vet or, even better - a Vet Derm who really understands the complex nature of allergies.
I had a vet who said Marcel (3 pounds) couldn't be on Atopica; I then went to Vet Derm who said "of course Atopica may be an option and he has other options too...here are the pros and cons of each". To me, that's what a knowledgeable vet would say...
