It has been my experience that single dogs don't bark as much as those in a "pack" or where there is more than one in the house to instigate one another. When one gets going they usually get the whole pack excited, but just like there are different personalities they will all be more or less vocal depending on who they are.

Mine are all different. Chai is an alert dogs so she barks at noises and new people. Hefner barks for attention and when he wants someone to play with him. Ava is what I call a "talker" because she mostly "whines" but it is not an irritating whine..it is cute and gutteral. She will bark when excited but she will stop when she is told to.

Just like us, they are all different...some quieter than others.
