I am leaning towards a metal crate. So he can see out of the sides. He'll only really been in it at night (in my room) until he's potty trained. I figured even though I'm home all day he could still use it as a den if he wanted to.
What size should I get? 18 inches seems so small.
Welcome I prefer the metal wire ones too since you can always drape a blanket over it for night time. I am TERRIBLE at trying to picture measurements lol, but it depends on what you're going to put in there and when/how long of a time period it will be used for. General rule for housebreaking is that it should only be big enough for them to stand up, turn around and sleep comfortably. But if you plan on ever using it for long periods of time other than over night like when you're not home and you want to be able to put a pee pad in it and a water bowl, you need something meant for a bigger dog. If it will be strictly for sleeping at night, go with a small one meant for toy breeds, 18 inchs does seem small, but if it's just for sleeping that should be fine or the next size up would be fine too.
