As long as they want as long as they are supervised by someone who is responsible enough who can get them out side if any attemps to potty in the house arrises. Once they fall asleep they go back to the cage. Because if they fall asleep you think "I have time" and you get busy doing whatever, once they wake up the first thing they will do is go potty on the floor.
