I am so sorry for your loss of little Spike. It's devastating to lose your best friend and companion of 18 years. We had a similar experience with our yorkie Baby who was 16. Missing and remembering Spike will always be with you but the pain will ease and eventually be replaced with loving memories. Take heart in that he lived a full life knowing he was loved by you and that up until the end you did the right thing by him. Sending you much sympathy Sue.
