Because of the teeth, I think the puppy is much younger than what you were told, perhaps as young as 5 weeks. At that age, it is like a pup that has lost it's mother and needs to be hand raised. The breeders in the breeding section can give you a lot of advice.
Regarding food, at this point you should be less concerned about what brand you are feeding and more concerned that he is eating, period. Find some dog food that he likes and will readily eat, and you can gradually switch to something better. Just getting him to eat something, anything (as long as it isn't crappy people food) is what is important. It doesn't sound like he has enough teeth yet for kibble. The breeders can give you some good advice and even some recipes on what would be good for him at this point. You could even try some jarred baby food, just look at the ingredients and be sure it doesn't contain onion powder.
