The AKC Standard "show" weight is from 4 to 7 lbs.
I know of Yorkies that weigh from a few ounces, to over 20 pounds.
The Breed "in general" is growing (increasing weight), reason for that...
"Most" people when viewing a Liter, will automatically look/like the most
gregarious, active, and usually larger animals, and "shun" the smaller
ones, thinking they're a "runt". And, this isn't all that far from the truth.
The smaller ones have a preponderance of medical problems, which a
larger animal seems to be able to avoid.
Size of the Sire and Dame really don't have a lot to do with the size
of their pups. Some can throw MUCH larger dogs, than they are.
I know, I have two that are twice the size of their Parents !
