Hello and welcome to you and Alphie. It sounds like you have a good start in training. Love and persistence will eventually train Alphie. They are smart little terroriers so persistence is the key. With Yorkies always brush every day to get the snags out and brushing their teeth is very important. I wash Buster's face every day and his stomach also every day so his skin does not get irritated from his urine. Also check his butt and keep that hair short so you do not have any hanging chads.
