First off, welcome to YorkieTalk! Your little girl is very cute!

Secondly, to answer your question... the bands aren't scary - it just might take a little practice using them to get the hang of it. BowBiz bands are very durable yet still quite elastic, so they are pretty easy to use. Another thing you could consider - if you'd feel more comfortable with a different type of bow backing - is adding either a French barrette or an alligator clip to your bows. This option is available to all bows on the website. Bands, barrettes or clips? At first you may just have to experiment a bit to see what works best for you & your little one.
