Off standard means not following the AKC guidelines of the yorkshire terrier standard (how the breed should look like, and what breeders should strive to achieve with their stock. Breeders who ignore the standard should be questioned). For example in DvlshAngel's case, her baby has floppy ears and a wavy cotton coat. The standard states yorkies should have upright ears and a smooth silky straight coat. Just bc her pup doesn't possess those qualities does not mean he is not a yorkie. Ever met a person that said they were from such and such ancestry and you thought, really no way! Kind of like that, LOL. Just bc you don't look it, doesn't mean you're not.
