I believe the employer has a legal obligation to provide you with a reason for letting you go. I know that as a former bank manager, there was a procedure we had to follow before anyone could be let go. It involved much documentation, counseling, and action plans. The only person who could immediately be fired was someone with their hand in the till, or someone causing physical harm to someone else.
I would check with your State Department of Employment and Training to see what they may have to say.
