My son's dog did that for a while but he would go outside with him every time and tell him "Leave It" when he turned to get it and when the dog backed off, treated and praised and soon trained him not to do it. Plus, he picked up the poop right away after the dog would back off. Soon the dog was trained to poop and go away from it. Later, my son would leave the poop a while and watch him for possible return and if he did, tell him, "Leave It" and treat. Before too long, he just avoided it altogether and lost interest as he grew up.
