I think you should, indeed, name her exactly what you want! It's hard to believe people don't stop to think when they say things like your friend did! I try to remember not to say anything bad about potential names...then how awkward if they do name them that!

, and I did tell a dear friend that she should choose Sawyer for her son instead of ALBRECHT
when she was deciding between the two. She did, saving him from a lifetime of playground trouble, in my humble opinion.
I like Becca in addiition to Bambi. Seeing Babe in writing, you wouldn't know the pronounciation, and it looks like Babe, the big blue ox. (Sorry...had to break that rule again
