Just for the sake of an argument: Have you ever wanted to accomplish something and tried for 10 years to do so? This is more than the million for Rob. He just wants to win and succeed. I don't think he will be able to come back again so this really is his last chance to win the biggest challenge of his life. This is his superbowl.
As far as tearing up, after so many days in the heat (to say nothing of putting up with Phil) I think the situation would get to anyone and make them emotional. Look what is is doing to the girls.

I was sorry he had to betray a friend but at this stage of the game it has to be every man for himself. I was relieved when the person voted off said he/she didn't know which one (between Rob and Phil) flipped on him.
