Thats not simple at all that is complicated...
To win means to be first or that there is not another person ahead of you in a race or that all other members of the race are in the rear or behind you.
It also means you will not be "second or even first runner up" it means you have achieved the lead position sometimes known as the pole position.
It could be that you would be called the "Tape Breaker" or "first past the post".
So to say it is simple only means you do not understand how complicated the winning position can be....
