If you live in NY why are you looking in the Washington area, when you can find a reputable breeder near you and you can actually see the puppy, home he is coming from , conditions of where he is living? You certainly wouldnt want a puppy to have to travel via plane if they didnt have to.. Why not check out the YTCA website for breeders in your area.
I have to agree if your looking for an inexpensive dog, a yorkie may not be the breed for you. I can tell you that my first year in vetting was well over 1000.00 and thats for a healthy puppy. Spay and puppy shots , heartworm and flea prevention cost just about 1000.00 then she got sick and that was an additional 600.00 for 1 night at the vet, xrays and blood tests.
I love my dog don't get me wrong but unless your daughter is in her mid teens it may not be the dog for her. Just saying!!!
