I don't know much about what happens with a phantom pregnancy, but for what reason does the vet want to wait 6 weeks? - is it for medical reasons for psychological?
Honestly, if it was my dog, I'd see if the vet would just spay her now, unless of course there's a medical reason not too, but I've assisted in spays of dogs that actually were very early into an unwanted pregnancy (or in heat) and yes, the surgery is a bit more involved, but nothing a good vet can't handle and not usually a big deal at all.
If she's spayed, she won't have these "issues" any more. Her instinct to want to reproduce and raise puppies will go away and she can just be a happy dog without all this stress.
Don't breed her just because you think she wants puppies, it's instinct with dogs, be carefull you don't "humanize" her feelings and behavior causing you to get in WAY over your head with an actually pregnant Yorkie and her puppies.
Good luck with her, poor little thing, she's confused. Talk to your vet about pushing the spay up sooner, not postponing it, that's what I'd do. |
