I'm a native Angelino, and my parents are Mexican. I have a hard time communicating in either language.
I know both languages very well, but my brain has decided to have everything jumbled together instead of neatly stored and separated by language. When I talk with another Spanish/English speaker, words just come tumbling out in whatever language they may come.
