At 6 weeks of age my pups are still not weaned. So, I remove mom from the puppy area about 5 times a day and allow them to eat. Leaving food down for them is an excerise in futility, mom will eat it. However, when mom tell's me she's done nursing, usually about 10 weeks of age...Food is left down for them at all times, but changing it about 4 times a day, so it keeps fresh and also monitoring to make sure no one pup is getting the lion's share.
