We took Mia in for her yearly cleaning last month - I was in shock when my vet called to tell me that she had to extract 3 teeth! What? We brush their teeth, they eat kibble, minimal food treats, and give them flossies for their chewing enjoyment. They get their yearly dental and bloodwork, too. Wow! Just couldn't believe my ears.

When I went to pick Mia up our vet had the teeth in a glass vial, the xrays and a colored chart of all her teeth so there's no question about whether she needed them pulled or not - I saw the black void area in the xrays.

It took a couple of days for her to feel better - the vet had to put stitches in - but let me tell you - she's like a puppy again!!!! She chases Moe and plays with him every day now - and she kisses on Max to the point that "he" gets up and leaves! lol!

Hubby and I felt sooo bad - we hope she wasn't in pain all this time - we just thought she was a "grouch"!

So when it's time to get your pup's dental - please ask for xrays!!! Our vet said that if it hadn't been for the xrays she would have missed this - the teeth looked fine above the gums - it was under the gums and only an xray will show it.
Very good information Connie and please give that cute little Mia bug a hug!
