Much of the time, we expect our Males to "stand up" for us, BUT !!!,
Female Yorkies are not to be dismissed for their lack bravery or
protective natures.
My little Becca is a total terror, when it comes to HER space
(house/yard/everything), which used to be ours, before she got here !
In a traditional Yorkie Pack, the Females assume a lot of the responsibility
for security and other duty's, with the Males sorta laying back, and
intervening only when necessary. Additionally, Males have to be quite
strong to hold the Alpha roll, Female Yorkies are quite capable.

HA HA, the same thing has happened to me, except that mine don't
have to be startled !
