No my vet did not put her on it, we bought her from a family that didn't even tell us or give us any food with her. I opened up her vet papers and it had a section that said "My family is feeding me:" then they had written Science Diet Small Bites so that's the only reason I knew what she had been eating... since she wasn't eating the Acana I went and picked up a bag of S.Diet to mix in...
and No I didn't need a perscription I bought it at "Global Pet Foods" a local store, and the only place in town to get foods like Orijen, Acana, and other YT recommended brands.
Science Diet Small Bites are not a perscription food, in fact I believe I saw it at WalMart in Iowa.
But needless to say, by forcing her to eat the one piece of Acana it made her realize she actually liked it, she ate her whole bowl of it... she's got a tough stomach so I don't believe she was on SD for any reason. My vet said she was as healthy as could be.
