Don't kick yourself in the butt! I have a son & daughter. My daughter(20) brushed her teeth 3+ times per day routinely growing up, and while she has beautiful looking white teeth, she's had many cavities & even a root canal! My son (18) had to regularly be reminded to brush his and admits to skipping brushing most nights before bed during his teen years and he's only had one minor cavity, so shallow it didn't require numbing.
