If you have oil heat in your home, it may be burning improperly. When that happens, tiny bits of black stuff gets all over the place, including in your nose and mouth. There may be fumes that can make your eyes burn and may be making you and your dog sick.
If you do have oil heat, call in for repair, and get to fresh air asap, or even stay in a motel till the burner is repaired.
