WELCOME TO YT!!! First things first, there is NO such thing as a MINI yorkie. How old is your yorkie? He really should be in his crate while you're not there, so he doesn't hurt himself. But everyone has their own preference with crate training versus blocking off small areas. When they are so small and young, big spaces can be scary to them. Good Luck!
