My name is Matt, and my wife and 2 boys (6 and 11) have 3 yorkies and a yorkie poo that we love very much. Our first and most beloved, Max (my wife says he's her real soul mate), has been having some problems, but much of the time seems alright. I don't know what can be done, and we don't have much, but I'd do anything to have our little Maxie live out his life happy, if not perfectly healthy. His symptoms match many things, but our vet seems almost sure that its renal failure
-He often times seems listless, lazy, or depressed. This does not apply when one of us comes home or we have company. This also does not apply at dinner time. Or when he's trying to get over the doggy gate to us.
-He drinks excessively, in amounts that sometimes seem equal to 7-8oz in one sitting.
-He pees too often. For a long time now, he's sometimes peed while eating, or while running to the other dog's food bowls after eating.
-3 times lately, he's peed in his sleep, one time which he didn't even get up and move on his own.
-He usually doesn't have a problem getting on our bed (2 1/2 ft high), especially when there is a snack of ours up there. But at night if he jumps down to pee on the pad, he doesn't jump back up, he just puts his paws up on the edge of the bed and whines.
-He has lost some weight, down to 6.6lbs from 7.2-7.4lbs.
He's only 2 and a half, and he's the sweetest nicest dog you'd ever see. I really don't know if we can call our house a home without our Max. I know whatever's wrong, he'll do everything he can to stay here with us. What can we do to help him?
