Aww, poor baby. This has happened to Tate a couple of times and I remember being terrified that first time.
With Tate, I have to keep his sanitary hair trimmed VERY short - when he would try to retract, he was bringing hair back in as well and that was blocking the way. Once I pulled the hair free and applied a little KY he was fine.
