I can only say what I would do. If it had been just liquid stool, then I'd do what the vet is saying. If there was a little bit of blood in it, I'd also do what the vet is saying. I just would not be comfortable with the amount of blood that came out. He is probably perfectly fine. Maybe a virus or something.. In my mind though, I'd have a hard time justifying that. So I'd personally get an xray. Wouldn't jump into an actual barium series. Although if it is clean and he still isn't right tomorrow, then you may have to go that way and would have already spent money on the one today. I'm really not sure what most vets would do in this case. I would worry too much overnight if it was Ellie...

But as long as you do have a 24 hour ER close and are going to be watching him closely, then you can probably skip it today. I would get up several times overnight to check on him.
