 My poor Izzy!
First, Izzy had a HORRIBLE experience at the vet. She was taken to another room and given a shot supposedly the equivalent of Pepcid AC. I could hear her screamng for all she was worth for a LONG time. The vet brings her back, halfheartedly apologizes and says " I guess your dog has a hard time with shots" WHAT?!? For that amount of time screaming? Never again will I go to a vet where they take the dog to a different room to do things. She has not been the same since. How do I complain about a vet?
However, it was determined that she has hookworm, roundworm and lungworm, but thank God no heart worm. She was given medication which I am giving her now. UNFORTUNATELY shortly after I ran out of her food, "Fromm puppy gold" which I cant seem to find anywhere, (plus she hates it,) and hard switched her to something else, so she got diarrhea.
Currently I am giving her 1/2 teaspoon [pepto] 2x/day and for food, 1/2 cup rice and boiled chicken 2x/day. Also just a bit of yogurt. She is starving and I have to really watch her outside as she will eat most anything off the ground. I have been averaging 3-4 hrs of sleep a night as she needs to go out constantly with the diarrhea. She is not dehydrated and her hunger is fine. I have picked a new vet and am having her records faxed over. Problem is I dont have the money to take her in again unless its a real emergency, as I am unemployed and I just dont have it to spend. Her bill was 200 and that was my bill money for the month.
I am looking for advice, opinions, questions etc as I know you all have her best interests at heart.
