The actual product is hard? It shouldn't be hard, but is normally very thick, similar to soft butter thickness. If yours is thicker than described I'm thinking maybe the seal or bottle cracked and air got to the product? You might call Linda and see if they will send out another bottle.
I use if full strength at bath time, but will mix about a tsp of PEk with probably 10-12oz of warm water in a spray bottle for a daily conditioning brushing spray. You don't have to heat the water, but you will have to shake it very well to get it thoroughly mixed. For bath time conditioning it depends upon how much coat your yorkie has. With Reno's long hair, I use probably about 1 tblsp, rubbed between the palms of my hands, then spread over his coat. I then comb it all the way through his hair.
You'll have to post pictures of your babies after their bath.
