My puppy has had a cough since dec 12 and has has 2 different penicilian prescribed as well as cough syrup and it seemed she was getting better she has run out of medicine but now she sounds very weezy. Like she has a chest cold. My vet wants to stick a tube down her throat and draw up some of the phlem and send it away to a lab. at first he was saying she probably had kennel cough but since nothing is helping he is not sure what it is. Has any one experiences this? Should I try and get one more prescription for penicillian since it seemed as though she was getting better?

Is kennel cough a dry cough or does it sound like a chest cold? Is kennel cough contagious for the entire time your dog has it?
