Welcome Hooper. It is always very sad to hear of losses of our furkids. I cannot give you any advice. I think that you and your wifey need to talk, but before you make a decision, have a knowledgeable unbiased person evaluate Dewey as to his qualifications as a breeding prospect.

Not all stud dogs mark -- although it is a natural thing for them to do, with persistence and perserverance than can be taught that marking inside is a huge NO-NO. A lot is up to you, whether or not you have the patience and consistency to head off mistakes BEFORE they happen and correct each and every booboo. Belly bands can also be a very effective training aid.

Many stud dogs get a bad rap because their humans don't take the time and effort (and it can be considerable) to assume ultimate head of the pack position and teach them that marking is absolutely unacceptable and will not be tolerated.

By the way, we are neighbors..... are you from Jasper, GA too? I live in Rome and have "horse friends" in Jasper.

GOOD LUCK!!!
