Default He could be having pain problems

I don't know how much of a vet check your new friend had but it sounds like he may very well have arthritis or some other condition that is causing him pain. He may very well have lots of energy but if his bones or joints are degenerating it can be painful. There are anti inflammatory meds available for dogs that will make him more comfortable and easier to get along with. There are also food supplements that help with bones and joints. The type of behavior you describe is not a breed trait. It is a reaction to something that is bothering him. Get him a good check up with a good vet. Hopefully with x-rays. Hope he gets the help he needs and thank you for rescuing this little fella.
