What a happy event Just keep weighing those pups and make sure they are all nursing well. Sometimes the stronger ones will push the smaller ones out of the way so the little ones don't get enough. I don't know how experienced your mother dog is but sometimes they just don't notice what is going on. If the pups are not all gaining at the proper rate you may need to get some Esbilac milk replacement and help out by supplementing their diet. A weaker pup can lose very quickly so just keep a close watch on their weight and consult with your vet. Make sure they are staying warm and that they don't get too far away from mom. They cannot maintain their body temp by themselves at this age.If you have a good vet that has experience dealing with breeders hopefully you will do fine. Read as much as you can to get as much information from experienced breeders as you can. |
