Pancreatitis can be life threatening. Usually high fat is a culprit but it is not known what other triggers can cause pancreatitis. I have a dog that has had two acute episodes of pancreatitis and he is on a very low fat home cooked diet for life. He also eats a prescription kibble food as a backup and that food is Royal Canin Gastrointestinal LowFat. Your dog may not have to have its diet changed due to one episode of pancreatitis. The first time Barney had it, he went back to his regular diet and had no issues for about 5 years and then he got it again so now he is on a strict diet. I don't think the white meat chicken breast would have triggered it, that is what my Barney eats and it is very low in fat.

If you post this in sick and injured forum (or ask the moderator to move it) you will get additional responses.
