I don't know the answer for sure,but my groomer told me that a silky coated Yorkie in a full coat will be insulated from the heat.
however, if your dog has a cotton coat it will be hotter because of all the hair and if your Yorkies coat is long but not full it will not work.
I have no idea if this is true but my groomer does this to her yorkie and it never seems hot.
