I recommend every 4-6 weeks for longer hair and 6-8 weeks for shorter hair. The longer coated dogs may even need it more frequently if the hair is prone to matting and the owners can't/don't brush at home. In my area price ranges from $45-$95 with the higher prices being in NYC and the lower prices in smaller towns in Jersey. Tips are not required but they are greatly appreciated by the groomer. I find most people tip whatever they can if they like the groom and appreciate the groomer's work, especially when they know their dog is a lot of work. I've seen tips range from $5 to $40.
